Grades (9-10)

Give students the head start they need to excel in Honors/Pre-AP level English classes in high school! Along with an understanding of what to expect from higher-level courses, your students will gain the confidence to read with purpose, thoughtfully answer test questions, and create pointed, well-written essays (In class essays/ICE and otherwise) worthy of a perfect score. In this workshop, students will learn exactly what skills they need to excel through reading a variety of full-length fiction and non-fiction passages, answering Honors/Pre-AP-style questions on each reading and improving their own writing using annotated example student essays.

  • Acquire skills like analyzing author’s language and the construction of an argument.
  • Practice answering AP-level multiple choice questions.
  • Discover specific strengths and weaknesses, using annotated student essays.
  • Master AP terminology, using the exhaustive glossary filled with definitions and examples.
