Writing in Ashburn
The Dulles tech corridor concentrates one of the highest densities of Indian and South Asian professional families in the country. Loudoun County's Ashburn and Brambleton neighborhoods, and Fairfax County's Herndon and Chantilly zones, are home to families whose children compete for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, the top-ranked public high school in the United States. TJ admissions have become more writing-intensive in recent years, with evaluative essays and problem explanations that favor students who can communicate ideas clearly and precisely. At the same time, LCPS and FCPS both run rigorous English programs where writing quality is tested early through the Virginia SOL assessments.

Questions from Ashburn parents
How does LTWN help students who are applying to Thomas Jefferson (TJ)?
The TJ application process includes written components that test a student's ability to analyze a problem and communicate a solution clearly. These are not English class essays, but they favor students who write with precision and logical structure. Our LTWN 360 program builds exactly those skills from elementary school onward. Students who have written under weekly expert feedback for two or more years go into the TJ process with a genuine advantage.
Do you serve both Loudoun County (LCPS) and Fairfax County (FCPS) families?
Yes. We work with families from across Loudoun and Fairfax counties, including Ashburn, Sterling, Herndon, Reston, Chantilly, South Riding, and Brambleton. All classes are online, so the county line doesn't affect placement.
When should a FCPS student start SAT Test Prep?
Most Fairfax County students take the PSAT 10 in 10th grade and the SAT in 11th. We recommend starting Test Prep in 8th or 9th grade to allow time for the skills to develop gradually rather than in a compressed review sprint before test day. Students who start earlier typically see larger gains.
