Our Story

Changing the World: One Word at a Time

What started as a summer writing workshop in 2008 has grown into an accelerated, year-round ELA enrichment program — teaching a full grade level above school — trusted by over 3,000 families.

How It Started

It Started With a Question No One Was Asking

In 2008, Mrs. Davis noticed something that didn’t add up. Bright, hardworking students were succeeding in school, yet many still struggled to read closely, organize their thoughts, and express themselves with clarity.

Not because they lacked ability. Because no one had explicitly taught them how to think through language. As a mother and educator who understood the power of words, Mrs. Davis couldn’t ignore the gap.

She started small: a summer workshop, a handful of students, and a clear mission to teach writing with structure, purpose, and intention. The impact was immediate. Students grew more confident, more articulate, and more engaged—not just in English class, but across every subject. Parents wanted more.

That early workshop became Learn to Write Now: a comprehensive, year-round English Language Arts program designed to help students read deeply, write clearly, think critically, and communicate with confidence.

Nearly eighteen years later, LTWN has supported more than 3,000 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, with alumni attending top universities across the country, including every Ivy League institution. Because when students gain command of language, they gain the tools to write, learn, and succeed. It’s not just a slogan.
