Did you know that early reading habits are one of the strongest predictors of academic success? LTWN’s Reading Club will help reluctant readers and distracted students build a consistent reading practice. Our passionate coaches curate books according to grade level and provide structure and support. Students will deepen their comprehension skills through in-class exercises, engaging discussions, and close reading demonstrations. Sign up today and help your child develop a lifelong love of literature!
The Reading Club is perfect for young readers looking for a fun, energizing opportunity to explore literature with their peers. Unbound by the stress of a school setting, students can forget grades and focus on the joy of reading. Through discussion, they’ll discover how stories connect us and the importance of delving deep into the world of words.
Students will learn how to read with attention and intention. Their comprehension skills will be boosted through careful annotation and deep discussions. They’ll learn to read closely to catch interesting details and identify main themes. Students will be asked to relate the books to their own lives and experiences, developing emotional intelligence and social consciousness.
Students are assigned about two books a month and meet once a week to participate in a facilitated discussion of the book with their peers. These meetings will be 75 minutes long and will take place over Zoom. You can join from anywhere and take a break at any time.
Our goal is to create lifelong readers. Our students will understand that engaging with literature isn’t just important for succeeding in school; it’s important for succeeding in life. They’ll learn to participate in conversations surrounding texts and explore different ways of expressing their ideas. This will improve their communication and social skills, which will help them both inside and outside of the classroom.
And that’s just the beginning! LTWN always watches out for your child and supports parents and students along their academic journeys.
As the late and great Maya Angelou once said, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” Here at LTWN, we hold Angelou’s words as a flame of truth. We are eager to see what your child can do today so that we may guide them to be their very best tomorrow.
