The Readers’ Workshop is LTWN’s summer program for students in Grades 2 through 7 looking to develop their reading comprehension skills. Through small classes led by passionate educators, students will learn to read with attention and intention, reading actively for meaning instead of passively. As a result, they’ll be able to better understand literature and academic texts, giving them the foundation to succeed in middle school, high school, and beyond. The LTWN 360 and Foundation workshops include the Readers' Workshops module and is offered during the school year.
Any student could benefit from extra reading instruction! We’re here to challenge students who are bored by their school’s curriculum as well as give a boost to students who need a little extra help. In particular, students who are reluctant readers or have difficulty reading material with sufficient depth will benefit significantly from this workshop.
Readers’ Workshop is a program that improves student abilities in reading and comprehension by learning the following techniques:
Students in the Readers’ Workshop meet weekly for a 75-minute live class over Zoom. In addition, we utilize Google Classroom, Kami, and our LTWN App to deliver mini-lessons and daily writing prompts. This semester-long program runs during our Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer sessions.
Students in the Reader’s Workshop will improve their mastery of English while strengthening their reasoning and analytical skills. As a result, they’ll be able to understand and respond to the written word, preparing them for future success professionally and academically.
And that’s just the beginning! LTWN always watches out for your child and supports parents and students along their academic journeys.
As the late and great Maya Angelou once said, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” Here at LTWN, we hold Angelou’s words as a flame of truth. We are eager to see what your child can do today so that we may guide them to be their very best tomorrow.
