The College Admission Essay Workshops are a series of eight-week courses for rising high school seniors facing the daunting college application process. Through small classes led by seasoned essay coaches, students will have a headstart and learn to navigate endless application requirements and deadlines. We'll teach the students how to highlight their strengths and present the best version of themselves, bringing the essence of who they are to the admissions committee. Coaches will guide the students in constructing balanced and realistic college lists and teach them how to write impactful personal statements, supplemental essays, descriptive activity lists, resumes, etc. Most importantly, the coaches will guide your student every step of the way and ensure the timely completion of all the written parts of the application.
Any rising senior/senior could use a multipronged support system during the application process! This is especially true for students applying to target, reach, and ultra-reach schools and parents who don’t want to worry if their students are on track to complete everything by the deadline. This workshop will hold students accountable for making a plan and sticking to it. Instructors will also provide thoughtful and personalized feedback for all the written work, giving students the confidence that they are submitting the strongest application possible.
Students in the College Application Workshop will learn how to:
And many more.
Students in the College Application Essay (CAE) Workshop meet weekly for 75 minutes over Zoom. We utilize Google Classroom, Kami, and our LTWN App to deliver lessons and application strategies. We offer these CAE workshops in three modules and it is our recommendation that most students will need all modules to put together a strong overall application.
Our CAE workshop is delivered in three sections. Students can sign-up for one or all sections.
CAE Kickstart (Pre-CAE) is an 8-week workshop focused on building a robust college list, writing thoughtful requests for letters of recommendation, and setting up a resume. We’ll also assist students in planning for how to best use their summer to fuel their applications come fall. This workshop will give your child a headstart on the self-reflection and discipline needed to craft the perfect application.
CAE 1 is an 8-week workshop focused on developing a personal statement (aka the main essay required by every school), activity list, and resume update. There will be ample time for brainstorming and revision, providing students with a strong foundation for every application. The Personal Statement and Activity List will be used in almost every application that the student has on his/her list.
CAE 2 is an 8-week workshop focused on writing supplemental essays. Students will also learn how to write scholarship essays as well as letters of continued interest. Students can expect to complete anywhere from six to twelve supplemental essays during the workshop along with a template for many more essays that they can write on their own.
Pre-CAE is offered in the Spring and Summer (optionally), CAE 1 is offered during the Summer and Fall Semesters, and CAE 2 is only offered during the Fall Semester and Summer (optionally). Students can sign up for the workshops as and when registration opens for each of the workshops or until a spot is available. If your child would benefit from more personalized attention, consider signing them up for our 1-on-1 Professional Development Service, besides the CAE workshops.
Students will leave these workshops knowing they've done everything in their power to construct an application that will turn the heads of admissions committees. At LTWN, we help your child believe in their dreams and challenge themselves. We teach them to be brave under stress and to persist through difficulties. Through our College Application Essay Workshop, your child will get the support and encouragement needed to achieve and surpass their academic goals. The lessons they learn will serve them well beyond the CAE workshops.
And that’s just the beginning! LTWN always watches out for your child and supports parents and students along their academic journeys.
As the late and great Maya Angelou once said, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” Here at LTWN, we hold Angelou’s words as a flame of truth. We are eager to see what your child can do today so that we may guide them to be their very best tomorrow.
