The Creative Writing Workshop is LTWN’s semester-long program for kids in Grades 2 through 7 looking to explore the elements of poetry and prose. We’ll explore beginner and intermediate creative writing concepts and learn to recognize the role of stories in their everyday lives. Students will use critical thinking to solve problems in the worlds they create and learn to utilize poetic devices to express meaning. Creative writing will help students hone their perspective and voice; they will gain the courage to wield the mighty pen and communicate their truths.
This workshop will allow avid storytellers to let their imaginations flourish while introducing the reluctant student to writing in a fun and engaging way. Our passionate teachers and inspiring lessons provide an excellent opportunity for students to engage with literature outside the confines of school, reducing the barriers to expression.
Students in the Creative Writing Workshop will learn how to:
Students in the Writers’ Workshop meet weekly for 75-minutes over Zoom. In addition, we utilize Google Classroom, Kami, and our LTWN App to deliver mini-lessons and daily writing prompts. This semester-long program typically runs for eight weeks during our Summer Semester (June/July).
Upon completion, students can use their newfound gift for words to engage, inform, entertain, educate, and influence those around them. They’ll be able to weave new worlds and surprise their audiences, forming the foundations to succeed in media industries. They’ll discover language can be fun, and their writing personalities will flower.
And that’s just the beginning! LTWN always watches out for your child and supports parents and students along their academic journeys.
As the late and great Maya Angelou once said, “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” Here at LTWN, we hold Angelou’s words as a flame of truth. We are eager to see what your child can do today so that we may guide them to be their very best tomorrow.
