Grades (K - 7)

Does your child…

  • Message friends?

  • Make comics?

  • Write stories?

  • Invent songs?

  • Scribble notes?

  • Compose essays?

If you responded, “yes,” to any of the above, then you have a writer on your hands! Becoming a strong writer will ensure that your child can be heard no matter what setting that they are in, and no matter the endeavor that they pursue.

Here at LTWN, we have had the pleasure of teaching myriad students in our Writer’s Workshop—from the most reluctant writers to those who will gladly wax poetic. Our immersive and comprehensive semester-long program offers your child (in any grade, K-8!) the best introductory class to practice and further their writing skills. With each session, your child will write their own creative work while delving into literary lessons with our seasoned and spirited teachers. Your child will complete a weekly mini-lesson, and by the end of the program, they will have finished a final portfolio—a tribute to their effort, wit, and creativity!

We believe that every child deserves an equitable amount of instruction, and for this reason, we maintain small class sizes and offer students individualized feedback. We top off each cohort at no more than 10 students, who will all be working with peers within their age range. Your child has the option of participating in the workshop for the Fall Semester (September—December), the Winter/Spring Semester (January—May), or the Summer Semester (June—July). We hold our weekly classes synchronously and remotely, with each lesson lasting for 75 minutes. Our instructors give your child the space to participate in an interactive, differentiated, and democratic approach to pedagogy—a dynamism that traditional class models don’t frequently get to implement. Our Writer’s Workshop is also the perfect class to take prior to our Grammar & Essays Workshop. This course combination is key in exposing your child to the strongest writing foundation possible!

All of our young writers come to master a vast array of topics: Idea Synthesis (brainstorming and organizing ideas for academic and creative writing), Organization (learning  paragraph and narrative structure), Word Choice (employing precise diction), Sentence Fluency (analyzing and composing proper syntax), Voice (writing to convey tone and style), Conventions (building knowledge around grammar), and Presentation (sharing work with an audience).

You will be impressed by your child as they discover the power of words. Through our workshop, they develop a strong sense of the theory and practice of writing in all genres, like expository, narrative, persuasive, and descriptive, etc. The knowledge that your child gleans will transfer into all endeavors that they pursue—even if those opportunities take them to the sciences! Their ability to flourish in any pursuit will increase with their newfound skills in communication and connection

As the important writer, C.S. Lewis, once said, “You can make anything by writing.” At LTWN, we are eager to help your child write their way into new worlds while making lifelong memories.
